The Update 1.0

Just to let everybody know, there have been some updates around CTT. First, episodes 9-12 are on YouTube for you viewing pleasure. Secondly, the homepage has changed from that clunky flash movie to a embedded copy of our latest production. Thirdly, the downloads section has been updated with two new recommended downloads, OpenOffice and Kompozer. We have also temporarily disabled the RSS feed for our updates and it needs reworking. Season 2 is expected to end on episode 25 which should be released in the end of October/ early November. Season 3 will likely start mid-January to early February.

Hey Everybody,
As you know, our off-season is nearing to an end and that means that you’re going to me noticing a lot of changes. First off, we are hosting our blog on our server via Blogger FTP. We have switched over to rack111 for hosting. To go with our website, we have registered another domain; you can now get to our site at either http://www.ctandt.co.nr or http://www.computertipsandtricks.co.nr. We also have a new intro/outro set for our videos. Furthermore, Computer Tips and Tricks now has a Twitter account (applegeeks2). Our IRC chat room is now also fully functional. For instructins on how to configure it with an IRC client, look here. Videos in season 2 will be uploaded on Mondays starting June 2. Please bear with us as we prepare for Season Two; there are plenty more changes on the way. Well, when we started we made a big deal about making the site from scratch and with a free program. As of today, that is not true. We are now using Dreamweaver. We hope that with Dreamweaver we will be able to make a better use experience on our website.

Happy New Year!!

We've been busy over the holidays recording and editing some great new episodes of Computer Tips and Tricks! We're going to finish the Vista mini series later this week with a video about Windows Sidebar and The Snipping Tool. That will bring us to episode 2.2. I have just realized that episode 2.1 never got uploaded properly, so both episode 2.1 and 2.2 will be released on Thursday (17-Jan). Episode 3 will be released on Friday 19-Jan. This episode will be a basic browser speed test. Safari, Internet Explorer, and Firefox will duke it out to see what browser is the fastest. This one was tricky, mostly because it was hard to find a good on screen timer and some good web pages. I decided on loading Google.com, youtube.com, computertipsandtricks.co.nr, and time.gov. All these sites will be timed when they navigate away from live.com.

Hopefully, you have noticed that our website is finally up again after our hosting provider upgraded their servers. We have created a new domain name for our website, although the new domain and the pre-existing domain will work. The new domain is http://www.computertipsandtricks.co.nr. Our videos will begin to appear on YouTube and hopefully our website every 3-4 days. The next episode will be the second installment in our Windows Vista series. It will be released on 12/31, but you can check our website tomorrow for a sneak peak at a screenshot and the title!! We also have reverted back to our old email address, applegeeks2@gmail.com, because we were having problems with the other email. Today, we are also announcing a new feature to our website, a mailing list. We will email you updates, blog posts, sneak peaks (in video format), and special members-only tips and ideas! create a new folder
rename the folder Alt+0160

Nvu is the best web developoment program that we have found so far. It's small in size, but it really packs a punch. Nvu is a WYSIWYG web development program (meaning what you see is what you get). One of our favorite features is the publish feature. This allows you to publish the page you made in Nvu to a website via ftp. The only feature that Nvu is lacking is an easy way to embed video. We highly reccomend this download and it earns 4 stars out of 5.
